FMI Building Innovation Achieves Toitū Enviromark® Bronze Certification

At FMIBI, we've always believed that doing things well means doing them responsibly. That's why we're proud to announce that FMI Building Innovation has achieved Toitū enviromark® bronze certification, an independent recognition of our commitment to understanding and improving our environmental impact.

It's a milestone we're genuinely proud of, and one that reflects the work that's gone on behind the scenes to establish a structured, meaningful approach to environmental management across our business.

Toitū enviromark is one of New Zealand's most respected environmental certification programmes, run by Toitū Envirocare and independently audited to ensure rigorous standards are met. The programme requires organisations to develop and maintain a certified Environmental Management System (EMS) that identifies significant environmental impacts and puts plans in place to prevent or reduce them.

Bronze certification recognises that FMIBI has established the foundations of this system, identifying the activities our EMS must cover, meeting applicable health, safety and environmental legislation, and committing to a process of continual improvement. It's the beginning of a journey, not a destination.

Achieving Bronze certification is the result of genuine effort from people across our business. It required us to take a clear-eyed look at our environmental impacts, put structured systems in place to manage them, and commit to ongoing accountability for our performance.

Our HR and HSE team led the process and will continue to coordinate our EMS going forward, working across all departments to monitor performance, support improvement initiatives, and ensure we continue to meet our environmental objectives. The work is ongoing, and we're committed to building on this foundation.

For us, this isn't about ticking a box. It's about being a business that takes its responsibilities seriously, whether that's reducing waste, using resources more efficiently, or simply making sure that the way we operate reflects the values we hold. Every action across our team contributes to that, and we're proud of what's been achieved collectively.

Becoming Toitū enviromark® bronze certified also means joining a community of over 400 organisations across New Zealand and beyond that are taking science-based action toward a more sustainable future. That collective effort matters, and we're glad to be part of it.

Bronze certification is the first step in the Toitū enviromark programme, which builds through gold and diamond levels as organisations develop more comprehensive and self-sustaining environmental management systems. Our intention is to maintain this certification and to keep improving our environmental performance over time.
